Pride
defeat Pgh Cobras 9-2 at Valley High. This game was played in a rain
storm that prevented both teams from getting going. The Pride points
came
on a blocked punt by OLB Dave Stallard which was recovered in the end
zone for a td by OLB Darron Jett. The xtra pt was no good. The Pride
had previously taken a 3-0 lead when Valleys own Tim Feroce drilled
a
30 yard FG. The scoring was capped when the Cobras got a safety on a
bad snap by Jonte Scott. The Pride were attempting to punt from their
own end zone.
Week 2 saw the Pride at the Cleveland Saints. The Saints took a first
quarter lead of 13-0 when Pride QB Brenden Pearson threw an
interception that was returned for a TD and then fumbled in his own
end zone which Cleveland recovered for there 2nd score. The 2nd xpt
was blocked by the Pride. The scored remained 13-0 until 4 mins left
in the half.
The ineffective Pearson was replaced by rookie QB Jacollie Curry from
Atlanta, GA. Curry drove the field and threw a TD pass to Dee Wolford
as
the first half ended 13-7.
In the 2nd half the Pride defense stood strong holding Cleveland at
13
points. Curry continued to impress, throwing 3 more tds in the 2nd half
to
veterans Nelson Gee and Jewell Stephens. Rookie WR/DB Charles Dawson
also caught a td. Curry finished with 220 yards passing and 4 tds.
Dawson had 120 yards receiving. Final score Pride 30, Saints 13.
Fast forwarding, The pride continued to 4-0 going into the 4th of July
bye week with victories of 23-21 over the West Virginia Gladiators and
31-0 over the Butler County Bears. The Gladiator win came after being
down 14-0 at halftime. Again Rookie QB Jacollie Curry enetered the game
and lead the Pride to a comeback victory. The winning score came on
a 35 yard fg by Pride kicker and Valley graduate, Tim Feroce.
Saturday 7/10 was a monumental day for the Pride. They faced the former
league (USFA) & National Champion West Virginia Lightning. Both
teams entered this game undefeated at 4-0. The Pride jumped out to a
7-0 lead on a pick 6 interception return by #14 Donte Green. The Pride
defense was stellar, holding the former champs to 8 pts until the 4th
quarter. Pride RB, AJ Foster continued to light it up as the Pride sealed
a 20-16 win that awarded them all of the conference tie breakers for
home field advantage in the playoffs.
On 7/17, the Saints visited Valley stadium for a rematch with the undefeated
Pgh Pride. They were seeking revenge for the 30-13 comeback victory
that they surrendered in week 2. There was no such luck as the Pride
cruised to a 35-0 blowout. 2nd year player Adam Rocco continues to lead
the swarming Pride defense. Rocco leads the team in sacks, tackles,
and pressures from his DE/OLB position. AJ Foster carried the offensive
load with 10 carries for 204 yards and 3 tds. Foster is on pace to rush
for more than 1,000 yards. Kicker Tim Feroce was 5 for 5 on extra points.
The Pride will continue on the road to excellence facing The WV Bruins
7/24 in West Virginia, then they return home for a 2 game home stand
vs the Kenova WV Crash 7/31 and the Butler County Bears 8/7. The regular
season concludes 8/14 with an away game vs the Pgh Cobras.
The Pride advanced 7-0 with a 60-0 win over the Mt State Bruins. This
one got real ugly, real fast as the Pride scored on10 of 12 possessions
offensively, while the defense sacked the QB a record 16 times. Nelson
Gee grabbed player of the week honors eclipsing 100 yards & 2 td's
receiving. He added another td on a 65 yard run. The Pride are just
1 win away from clinching the division, 2 wins away from clinching the
conference, and 3 wins from their first ever perfect season.

2009
was a very successful year. The Pride posted a 6-3-1 regular season
record and added a victory in the playoffs. The season came to a halt
with a loss to the eventual champs the Lackawanna Dynasty who went undefeated
in 2009. "'09 was tough!" said Coach Rich. "We
were hampered by injuries and had a few player meltdowns to get over".
2010 is looking promising for the Pride. They have a record number of
applicants interested in joining the team. "Anything short
of another trip to the playoffs will be viewed as a disappointment"
added Coach Rich. "We always shoot for the Ship, but it all
starts with winning the division, and the playoffs". Currently,
the Pride are back-to-back EFC Divisional Champs and have finished in
the leagues top 10 for 3 consecutive years.
